The Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies was founded in 1969 as the Center for Afro-American Studies (CAAS). It was renamed in 2003 after Nobel Prize winner, scholar, activist, and UCLA alumnus Ralph J. Bunche, in commemoration of the centenary of his birth.
We seek to provide a creative arena for educational development relevant to the lives and existence of African Americans.
Bunche Center-supported research initiatives include the Collaborative Multiracial Post-Election Survey, the Black Policy Project, and Million Dollar Hoods.
